Our Story explains why Fzin Coffee was created
Fzin Coffee is an Irish company offering a certified sustainable portfolio of coffee and beverage products for hospitality, food service, cafés, offices and homes, designed to replace single use plastic and aluminium with verified low waste alternatives.
The name Fzin is more than a brand name. It is inspired by the ancient Greek concept “ευ ζην” (Ef Zin)
Ef zin means “living well.” This concept refers to living responsibly and connects personal wellbeing with environmental and social responsibility. For Fzin, “living well” means making conscious choices about how we live, consume, and do business. It reflects the belief that everyday decisions should create wellbeing, not only for individuals, but also for the communities and environments they are part of.
Created with Purpose, Rooted in Values
At Fzin, we believe exceptional coffee begins with intentional choices. Every element of our process reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability.
We partner with suppliers who share our values, employ methods that honor the bean, and create products that honor the everyday ritual of coffee.
The name represents a commitment to a lifestyle that values quality, sustainability, and mindful choices. It recognises that enjoyment and environmental responsibility are not opposing ideas, but can exist together through thoughtful product and business decisions.
Fzin’s meaning also aligns with how the business approaches growth and success. The focus is not only on outcomes, but on how those outcomes are achieved. Responsible decision-making, long-term thinking, and consideration for people and the planet are central to what the name represents.
In this way, Fzin reflects a philosophy that connects quality products with responsible living, and commercial activity with social and environmental awareness.

Bio | Meet Sofia Kalfa, Managing Partner of Fzin Coffee
Sofia Kalfa
Managing Partner
The journey
Sofia Kalfa has spent almost two decades leading complex, large scale transformation across global organisations, with a track record of improving performance across operations, supply chain, leadership development, and strategic functions. Her career at Dell, PepsiCo, Wayfair, and CRH has been defined by high stakes execution and by a consistent focus on making systems work better, at scale.
Business succeeds only when it acts as a positive force within the wider ecosystem it operates in. Profit alone is a broken compass.
Career Background
At Dell, she worked on global manufacturing efficiency and Lean Six Sigma initiatives. At PepsiCo, she managed a global supply chain overhaul. At Wayfair, she built the coaching function from the ground up. At CRH, she directed the design and delivery of Global Leadership Development Programmes to align senior talent with culture and strategy. This breadth gives her a rare end to end view of how organisations operate, where performance breaks down, and what it takes to improve both systems and people.
Leading Fzin Coffee
She now brings that same discipline to her role as Managing Partner of Fzin Coffee, where she leads the business with a clear focus on operational reliability, responsible growth, and product standards that stand up commercially as well as environmentally. Under her leadership, Fzin Coffee has introduced Ireland’s first Four Star OK Biobased and Home Compostable coffee pod, independently certified by TÜV Austria.
education and qualifications
Her credentials reinforce that range. She is Project Management Professional certified, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified, Black Belt trained, and a Qualified Kaizen Facilitator, giving formal depth to her process improvement and execution background. On the leadership and people side, she holds an MSc in Professional Coaching from University College Cork and a qualification in Applied Psychology. Her more recent development, including her Sustainability Leaders Programme certification from the University of Limerick and her HR certification from the University of Galway, reflects her continued commitment to updating her knowledge and strengthening the tools she brings to the businesses and systems she leads.
What sets her apart
One of Sofia’s strongest differentiators is the range of systems she has led across very different environments. She has worked across manufacturing efficiency, global supply chain transformation, leadership development architecture, and coaching function design. Few leaders operate credibly across both process and operations on one side and talent and coaching on the other. Sofia has done both, and at scale.
